You are the light of the whole world
Welcome to the Hedgehog class!
We are a mixed year group class of year 1 and year 2 children. Our classroom is an environment that the children feel comfortable in so they can be themselves and express their opinions and ideas, learn effectively and have fun! Barney, the cockapoo, often comes to visit and the children love to help look after him.
In the mornings our teachers are:
Mondays - Mr Hardwick
Tuesdays to Fridays - Mrs Menawy
Our teaching assistants are:
Miss Green (Mondays to Fridays)
Miss Chattenton (Tuesdays to Fridays)
Each term has a different topic and focus. If you would like to know what our topic is for this term, please look at the curriculum overviews below.
In the afternoons Hedgehogs join Squirrel class for Continued Provision, Monday to Thursday each week and for Forest School on Friday afternoons.
Continuous Provision is a teaching strategy which links to the interests of the children and closely aligns to the National Curriculum. The children enjoy increasingly challenging and valuable learning opportunities throughout both year 1 and year 2, revisiting and embedding skills and knowledge whilst continuing to strengthen the effective learning behaviours they had when they left Reception.
Forest School is lead by Natalia Figa who plans wonderfully creative and inspirational sessions which are held off-site. The children love to learn outside of the classroom, exploring, playing and all the time, developing their knowledge of their environment, independence and team skills. For lots more information on Forest School please look at the Forest School page on our website. (Parents, Forest School)
