On Wednesday 11th November, we discovered why so many people have been wearing poppies recently. We learnt about Remembrance Day, including when it first began, a long time ago now. There were lots of different suggestions for why poppies are a symbol for remembrance, a few that were very creative! We created our own poppy wreaths, and mini poppy models using tissue paper and lolly sticks, and drew posters to show who we remember on 11th November. At 11 o'clock the whole school shared a 2 minute silence around the war memorial in the churchyard, and we laid our wreaths down as Elm class read poems they had written.
