We arrived at Hindleap this morning in the glorious, spring sunshine! After getting settled in our rooms, we started our first activity: Shelter building. The children worked in teams to construct a shelter, using a piece of tarpaulin, rope, pegs and any materials they could find around them in the woodland. This was a great exercise in teamwork, and the class worked really well together.
After that, we had a delicious lunch of sausage or fish fingers, with mashed potato and baked beans, and plenty of fruit and yoghurt to finish.
This afternoon, we split into two groups: Mr. Gaind's group started with climbing and then participated in an archery session, whilst the children with Mrs. Taylor - Hicks and Mrs. Duffy navigated the (very muddy) obstacle course before climbing. Everyone faced their fears, achieved their goals and encouraged each other beautifully.
We then ate a lovely roast dinner, before heading out on a night walk. Elm class are already looking forward to tomorrow's activities, and no doubt they will sleep well after a busy first day!
