Pumpkin Picking

Maple Class had a fantastic trip to the farm to pick their own pumpkins! The children learnt about the life cycle of a pumpkin, how they grow and the different varieties. They had lots of fun at the farm looking for different shaped and coloured pumpkins comparing their size and weight.

Back at school the children wanted to washed their pumpkins. Some were cut open to explore what they were like inside, some were weighed, some were even painted. We made pumpkin soup and most children through it was delicious! We are still learning from our pumpkins weeks on as we are watching with fascination as they rot and start to decompose. We were also inspired to make our own scarecrow after the trip as we spotted one in the field and the children have fondly named him Mr Gained!
