Kent’s ‘Wider Opportunities’ scheme has provided in the past ‘Cello, Tenor Horn, recorder and flute lessons, enabling all our year 3 and 4 children the chance to learn an instrument free of charge for a year. This year they are learning the ukulele Private lessons are currently available (for a fee) in piano and guitar. We are always looking to expand these with demand.
Performance is a great confidence booster and the opportunities to perform in a small school are many. All our children perform on stage for school productions and many also participate in concerts and at local events. The benefits of musical development are well documented and besides its obvious creativity value, it is also know to have close associations with development in mathematics.
